Waterfront Simmentals was founded in 1988 with genetics sourced from leading Simmental studs including Munga Park, Onkaparinga, and Avoca Vale.
The Simmental stud is operated with a base of 100 stud cows and with the use of ET and AI programs we are able to maximise and blend our genetics with outcross genetics to produce cattle that are functional and will perform for clients in varying conditions.
Waterfront Red Angus was established in 1996 due to the compatibility that the breed offers when crossed with the Simmental breed. This cross produces functional 'Red Baldies' and is the base of the commercial herd. The Red Angus herd is based on genetics from Ferndale Park, Jillangalo and Princess Park.
Waterfront has had many a success in the show and sale rings, this has included, Adelaide Show All Breeds Champion 1998 and the Stock Journal trophy for Most Successful Beef Cattle Exhibitor of All Breeds in 1999.
We achieved top priced Simmental at the European Bull Sale, Naracoorte 1998, 2003 and the top average in 2004. At the Simmental National Show and Sale we have won Supreme Exhibit 1998 and 2000 and equal top price in 2000 and second top price in 1995 and 2000.
In 2005 in conjunction with Woonallee Simmentals we established a Premier Genetic Simmentals Sale held at Furner in February each year. This has been very successful sale with cattle selling to all mainland states of Australia and New Zealand.
Waterfront has remained commercially focused and this has continued with the purchase of "Oriental Park" at Tintinara in 2000. "Oriental Park" is now the base for Waterfront Simmentals and Red Angus. The commercial herd is focused on producing milk vealers for the local supermarket trade. Our 9-10 month old Simmental cross Red Angus milk vealers averaged $843 in January 2005 with an averaged dressed weight 235kgs.
This commercial focus has allowed the stud genetics to be tested under commercial conditions and also allowing us carcase feedback on progeny from our stud sires.
